What people come to us with

Sound familiar? At the first visit the doctor checks whether it is fungus and whether the laser is suitable for you.

Yellowed big toenail

The nail turns yellow or brown

It starts at the edge and gradually spreads.

Thickened crumbling nails

It thickens and crumbles

Hard to cut, presses in shoes, flakes off.

Applying lacquer to a nail

Lacquers and creams didn’t help

Months of applying them and the nail looks the same.

Bare feet on a beach

You hide your feet

Sandals, the pool, a pedicure. Better not.

You feel embarrassed at the pedicure

The pedicurist looks at your nails and you find yourself apologising.

You worry it will spread

To other nails or to your family through towels and shoes.

Cutting hurts, shoes pinch

A thick nail is hard to cut, and reaching your feet gets harder every year.

It feels like it’s forever

After years of lacquers and creams you no longer believe it can change.

Why fungus drags on for years

  • 1
    It sits under the nail

Fungus lives in the nail and the nail bed, where products applied on top barely reach.

  • 2
    Nails grow slowly

A new big toenail takes 9–12 months to grow out. Stop after a few weeks and you start again.

  • 3
    It comes back from shoes

Fungus survives in footwear and on the skin of the feet, and the nail can be reinfected.

  • 4
    No doctor involved

You don’t know if it really is fungus, or whether what you’re doing works.

How we approach it

  • ✓
    The doctor first

Examines your nails, tells you what is going on and whether the laser is suitable.

  • ✓
The laser reaches deep into the nail

It reaches where lacquers and creams from the surface can’t. The nail is not removed and you leave in your own shoes.

  • ✓
A plan for the whole year

You know in advance when to come and what it costs. Nail growth is checked at every visit.

  • ✓
    Advice for home

How to care for your shoes and feet so the fungus doesn’t come back.

Frequently asked questions

What will I feel during treatment?

You may feel warmth or mild burning. The nail is not removed and you walk normally after the visit. The doctor will explain possible reactions before treatment.

Why does treatment take about a year?

Nails grow slowly. It takes 9–12 months for a whole new big toenail to grow out. That’s why, after the initial series, visits continue at longer intervals.

When will I see a change?

Change appears gradually at the root of the nail as the new nail grows. The doctor checks progress at every visit. Results vary from patient to patient.

I have diabetes or take medication. Can I come?

For an examination, yes. Tell the doctor about all your conditions and medication. Based on that, the doctor decides whether the laser is suitable for you.

Can the fungus come back?

Yes, it can. The doctor will advise you how to care for your feet and shoes during and after treatment.

Do you do lab tests?

Lab tests are not done at the clinic. The doctor examines your nails and, if needed, recommends a test at a laboratory.

Do I have to buy the 10-visit package straight away?

No. The first visit costs 990 Kč. You decide on the next steps after the examination and talking to the doctor.

How much will the treatment cost in total?

First visit 990 Kč. Further visits 4 990 Kč each, or a package of 10 visits for 24 990 Kč (5 + 5 free). The doctor will tell you how many visits you need.

How many nails are treated per visit?

The price is per visit. The doctor decides which nails need treatment during the examination.

I’ve already tried laser elsewhere. Is it worth trying again?

The doctor will look at the current state of your nails and tell you whether treatment makes sense. It’s important to see it through – a new nail takes 9–12 months to grow.

Do I need to remove nail polish before the visit?

Yes, please come without polish or gel on your toenails so the doctor can see the whole nail.

I’m pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I come?

Please tell the doctor in advance. They will assess whether the treatment is suitable in your situation.

Is nail fungus contagious for my family?

Fungus can spread via towels, shoes and damp places. The doctor will advise you how to protect yourself and your family.

Can I walk normally and go to work after the treatment?

Yes. The nail is not removed, there are no bandages and you leave in your own shoes.

What if I can’t make my appointment?

Call us or message us on WhatsApp and we’ll reschedule.

Does health insurance cover it?

No. ALTOS is a private clinic and you pay for the treatment yourself.

Where do I find you?
